yeah yeah im sure he probably has a decent amp, but still... vid reminds me that its 99.9% all in the fingers.

albert king played through a solid state amp and predominately on one guitar, and SRV didnt have "texas specials" in his strat, just good rig setup + 50-100 strings. yup i feel more than satisfied with my 1 and 1 plus 1 of each spare thing i have going.... for now

my experience is that squier basses and electrics are better quality than squier acoustic guitars, and also keep in mind you can always update the pickups on a squier electric.

Speaking as a guy who owns three USA Jacksons, and I've had others in the past and a USA Fender Strat, let me just say that the Squiers aren't that terrible.

The Squier electrics, from the Standard series and up, really aren't bad at all. I have a limited edition Squier Strat with the most vintage sounding alnico single coils you've ever heard. My Mexican Standard Fender Strat has hot ceramic pickups that are nice for rock and blues, but can't come close to the sound of a real Strat like the Squier does.

Yeah, I think you've pretty well nailed it. There are some guys out there with incredible tone who don't obsess about the latest boutique gear. Merle Haggard's guitar player (Redd Volkaert) has this fantastic tele tone and he plays through a solid state peavey amp

Hi Mr Peebuddy,

Both electric and acoustic guitars have improved a great deal over the last 20 years. You can get a lot more for a little money than you used to. To me this is part of the democratization that comes with spreading improved technology around the planet.

As Patticake notes, it is easier and less expensive to upgrade an electric vs an acoustic. But you can still get a decent acoustic for not that much.

When I think of it, I did most of my learning on the guitar 40+ years ago on a relatively cheap $80 Harmony acoustic 12-string. Nobody in the audience knew what that guitar cost.
