Default Capo Choice

If you could choose from these 3 capo's. Which would you select?

Nashville spring loaded
Newport pressure touch
Newport G7th

I can choose one of these (my only options) as a gift.

As always --- Many thanks

I would use it on my Guild D40 BG Jubilee.

I have several capos including the G7th Heritage and the G7th Performance 2. At home I use the Heritage because it is such fine piece however the Newport gets all of my gigging. If I had to choose it would be the Newport. Super reliable and easy to use.

Of these I would prefer the Newport G7th. Happy gift.

I prefer the Nashville, which I use all the time, but I believe many do not.

I would recommend the Shubb Deluxe, but I recognize that's not one of your options.

Never mind....

I'd go with one of the Newports. Don't know if the fine adjustment version would be worth the extra $, but I've been very happy with just the G7th Performance 2. I like the gearing/ratchet/squeeze type.

I'd take G7th at its word that the Newport is "is particularly suited to instruments that are problematic to use with a capo, such as guitars with a high action and 12 string guitars."

With the Performance 2, it there is a little buzzing, I just squeeze it a little harder and it works fine. I even use it on a banjo.

I've had success with a couple different capos, and could be happy with either of these.

Shubb Deluxe. Compact. Inexpensive. Effective. Easy to carry.

G7th Performance 2. Had to modify the sharp corners. sounded great. Got it on sale. Wouldn't buy it at full price. Nice tone, probably better tone than the Shubb. It got "lost"

Thalia- Had to learn to use it with the right insert and orientation. Its the one I used most now. Some guitars like the high tension rubber insert, some like the teflon insert. Got it for half off- $45, same price as the G7th P2. Heavier than expected.

I've tried several, including the popular Paige (which I did not like), and the "clamp style" (with the huge handle) which I also did not like.

the G7th has been my favorite so far, but I have a Thalia arriving today. High hopes...

Of those you listed, I would choose the Newport.

Best,

I know it's not on your list, but since I mentioned it I wanted to check back in.

I'm a total convert to Thalia. Perfection. Of all the capos I've owned, they got it RIGHT. At least for my guitars. Perfect AUTOMATIC tension, easy to "store" on the guitar, guitar stays in tune, and it's beautiful. I need to get one for each acoustic I own, I think. Get rid of all my G7ths.
