Replacing a 0.53 string with a 0.56 to get a deeper bass ?
My Rainsong WS 1100 is wonderfully balanced
but I feel that the low E is a bit "weak" and has slightly less volume compared to the low A. I changed strings, checked the nut, the saddle, the pins... everything looks OK. Do you think that replacing the 0.53 string with a medium one (0.56) could help ? Has anyone tried it before ? ( I mean: to have five "light" strings and a medium low one ) ? Thank you for your advice, Gerardo1000 Rainsong WS1100 Taylor 314 |

yeah that will be fine. It shouldnt hurt it at all. It "should" give you more bass though. You said that you tried new strings, but did you try a doifferent brand or type of strings. That could do it also.
Hope this helps, and keep us informed Tim |

yo Tim, this may come as a shock but you might want to try a smaller bass string for deeper bass. Larger is the logical choice and you might even say the obvious choice but strings will fool you . I once had a tele I wanted a mor Nashville sound with deep bass twang and I went down a step tuned down a half step and wallah was there Turned up tuned donw and twanged the night away. Then again...................................
doncha just hate that. LOL
