Default Rainsong! Fall 714LTd

I did some searching on the Forum last night, and E-mailed a few guys about Rainsongs guitars. They both really liked theirs. I tried one today, and was not impressed at all with this one. I tried the OM. The action was super, super high. The saddle was so high out of the bridge slot, that it actually leaned toward the neck from the string tension. I'm sure I could have sanded the Saddle, I do on all my Taylors for lower action. SO then I looked down the neck, and it was so wavy I could have surfed on it! Maybe I got ahold of a "Lemon" I dont' know. My first experience with Rainsong's sure wasn't a good one. Just thought I'd share with this with ya's

I about forgot!! The music store is the largest Taylor Dealer in the Mid West... Awesome Store. I'm trying to get a job there, but anyway... I played the Fall 714Ltd with Grafted Walnut.. GREAT sounding guitar. That's the first time I have played Walnut, and I am in love with it...

I wouldn't, if I was you. You better try one first!

I have also played a rainsong. I don't really understand the fascination with them. I guess I just really like a true "woody" sound.

God bless,

~Matt

Hey! I guess I haven't been paying much attention, but it is good to see another Edwardsvillian on the Forum.

Fazio's is a great store, but I do most of my hanging out at Mojo's.

Do you play anywhere in the area?

I do also want to post that I have played several Rainsongs just for fun and for the most part really liked them. However, I would not buy one without playing it first.

I AM SURPRISED THE THE NECK OF THE RAINSONG YOU PLAIED WAS WARPED.
THEY RAINSONG CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSURED ME THAT THE NECK CANNOT WARP FOR THE ETERNITY. THE NECK OF MY RAINSONG IS OK, WITH A NECK RELIEF OF AROUND 0.012.
I LIKE MY RAINSONG WS 1100 VERY MUCH, I ALSO OWN A TAYLOR 314.
THEY ARE DIFFERENT BUT I THINK THAT THE RAINSONG SOUND IS VERY MODERN AND LOUD, NOT BETTER THAN THE SOUND OF THE TAYLOR, BUT
VERY GOOD INDEED.

I usually hang out at Mojo's too! I heard Fazio's might be looking for someone, and I really want to find a job, that deals with music.
I just moved her late this summer. I have played at the Stagger Inn on Sundays. Butch is a riot!

I spent an hour auditioning a Rainsong, because the stability aspect of the guitar is pretty intriguing. It was reasonably loud, and very well balanced, but, IMO, had tone as exciting as a digital synth.

It's good for those stuck in a severe climate, but tonally speaking it doesn't compare with the complexity of a wood instrument.

I've dismissed Rainsong as the "Millenium Ovation". Kind of cool, but not the real thing.

Peace.

Doc

Butch is a riot! I have done Sunday nights myself, but probably not for about a year. It was the way for me to get my feet wet before I started out on my own. Let me know when you are playing and I'll try and stop by. I would like to meet you.

Sounds good! Half the reason I moved here was to meet people, and be around music. I lived in a horrible place for music, and as far as I know, I was the only Fingerstyle player around for miles. It sucked!! I owe it to my girlfriend really, she goes to SIUE, and if it wasn't for meeting her, I wouldn't be in Edwardsville. I really like this town!! Meet ya soon
