Some links below. Several prior free tab websites are now gone due to copyright threats.

In this app, you can email the tab to yourself and then print it.

BTW, to those that want to print, if you have a smart phone consider using that instead. The app I mentioned before let's me view the tabs in any situation where I'd use paper and beats paper because I don't have to flip the page, ever.
Bowie, thanks, good tip, but I only usually learn new songs to bring them into my acoustic jams, at which point I prefer hard copies (old school here) to put on a music stand. A number of my player friends are now using ipads, which i will probably eventually migrate too, but I do like paper.

BTW, are you as big a Bowie fan as me? I was lucky to see him several times in concert back in the seventies. He's an AMAZING performer.

Barely:

I have a general IPad question (I don't own one yet but am headed that direction).

Does an IPad have the capability to become a cellphone? Excuse my total Newb ignorance. I'm trying to figure out a way to stream Spotify and Pandora in my car, and I'm looking for a screen that's safer and larger than a smartphone screen, for vehicle safety primarily, but also for ease of use and those kinds of issues.

Thanks!

It pretty much does everything a cell phone does other than make phone calls. You can set up text messaging with the iPad but it only works with other Apple products. If you have a cellular compatible iPad, not all are ($100 upgrade+monthly data $) you can stream Pandora, etc from the car. The nice thing is that you can add that data plan ala carte monthly if you desire. We rarely ever do that unless traveling. With wifi at home we stream Pandora, youtube, etc all of the time.

I like Chordie.com too for chord progressions and lyrics. Yes, there's a lot of crap posted there, but you have to look around and can usually find something worth pulling into OnSong.

Chordie is also 100% free and allows you to keep your own "songbook" of tunes, which is helpful. I recommend Chordie to anybody who asks.

I've tried that. usually the image gets reversed and then I have to play around with it. It's just a hassle.

www.countrytabs.com is currently having issues. If you go to their website, you get this...

"Temporarily Offline
CountryTabs has received an email from an attorney from the National Music Publishers' Association stating that we are violating copyright laws by displaying tablature to certain songs. We are currently working towards an agreement with the Harry Fox Agency to officially license our user interpretations of the tablature we display so that we can continue operation of CountryTabs.com

We hope that we can have this agreement hammered out quickly, so please continue to check back with us. Thanks for your support."

It actually does if you use a desktop or laptop. Never a problem to print for me.

Another vote for songster. It costs like $5 a month and the layout is easy to work with IMO. I sometimes use ultimate guitar, but they tend to have several tabs for one song and many are not even close to being accurate, so you have to sift through them to find the one that is closest to the original song.

+1 for Will Fly's website :
This nice Irish player crafts his own fingerstyle versions of
reknown pieces, from classical to jazz, through great songs
and country blues, from easy to intermetiate level, I would say.
I always have great pleasure playing some of them.

I generally use the ultimate guitar site - from an iPad
Once I find a tab I like, I import it to OnSong.
From OnSong I can enlarge the font, add scrolling, and edit as needed.
Also easy to delete if it doesn’t work out.

Without WiFi, I believe you would need to create a hotspot with your phone, connect the iPad to it and then stream your Spotify.
Not too familiar with Spotify, but it’s all my kids use.
I recently noticed Amazon Music App on my phone now has a “car play” mode with a much simpler screen and big buttons. I wonder if Spotify has or is planning something similar
