- Neil Finn's 'Lullaby Requiem' dedicated to the memory of his Mother (the line, "and the building blocks, sometimes have to crash, not meant to last like a mother's love" gets me every time)
- Pat Metheny: 'Always and Forever' - Joey Calderazzo (pianist) just put out a new solo CD 'Amanecer,' and he opens with a very moving version of the late/great Mike Brecker's 'Sea Glass' (which Brecker also wrote to open his first solo CD back in the mid 80's).

"Who's Gonna Know," the Kathy Mattea version. First heard it watching a show with my father after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Still can't make it all the way through that song without tearing up.
"I Am," by Jill Phillips. Just a beautiful song. Sang it as part of the eulogy at my sister's funeral after a long bout with leukemia. She had a copy of the words to that song that she held onto for the last six months of her battle through marrow transplants, chemotherapy, etc. It brought her a lot of comfort, and I like to believe that she was smiling when I sang it for her at the funeral.

I had a friend at work who lost his son in an airplane accident. He was the co-pilot on the ComAir flight that crashed near Detroit a number of years ago.
We got together a few years back to play some music as he's a fellow guitar player. We played the song "Fire and Rain". When we got to the part "sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground"...he started to choke up and cry. We couldn't even finish the song. I'll never forget that moment.

There are so many great songs on this list. It was hard to realize how many of them I have not played in such a long time.
Thanks for helping to shake the cobwebs loose! |

"Everything"- lifehouse \QUOTE] I think everybody on the face of the planet should hear this song, even if pop-rock isn't their thing. it stuns me when I listen to this song thoroughly. |

It's sad and hauntingly ironic that the phrase took on that very different meaning for you and your friend.

Somone wrote "father and son" by cat s. as well. Not to sound like a softy, but I broke down singing dylan's Blowin' in the wind once. The lyrics hit me pretty hard. |
