Took The Plunge
Well, I did it. I’m 62, our finances are in order and we have no debt. I filed for my pension and I retire on August 30th. My uncle says every day is Saturday when one is retired, I hope he’s right. I’m like a little kid waiting for school to let out for the summer.

Good for you! 62 is my number as well, 7 years to go but I might cut the corner and go at 60.

I would disagree with your uncle. On Saturdays, there are a great many people who don't have to work. When you're retired, it's just the lucky us who get to do whatever we want while the rest are working. Case in point - My ladyfriend and I had been watching the Weather Channel and waiting for a 4-5 day block of good weather in order to go to the beach. We got our wish and have been enjoying our oceanfront stay at Virginia Beach and will be leaving in advance of the Memorial Day mayhem. Many congrats on your impending retirement...

Congrats. Sounds like you’ve waited a long time so you deserve the time to relax. I still got another 30 years......

Congrats!
I 'logged out' of a 44 year career in IT about six weeks ago, and haven't looked back. I'm still aware of the difference between week days and weekends, but I have noticed I've had to think about what day of the week it was a couple times last week. Enjoy..... D

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your retirement to the fullest. For me, I really would have enjoyed working another 4 years. Loved my assignment, but I may be the minority.
Sorry, don't mean to be a Debbie Downer.

CONGRATULATIONS. I have been retired several years and enjoy it very much. It took me a while to get used to it and there are some adjustments to be made. My biggest one was that my wife had to point out that my "opinions" on some things domestic really didn't matter. So...think twice before you try to "improve" on things in her domain. Otherwise, enjoy every Inuit of it.
