2008 Ribbecke Monterey 17" archtop, unobtainium woods
Tom Ribbecke needs no introduction. He defines the highest level of modern archtop lutherie.
This 2008 Monterey is an exceptional example of Tom's work. Ultra-high-quality back and sides from Tom's legendary stash of cello maple. Curly Koa appointments beyond what Tom normally does on his instruments. Sitka spruce top. Ebony fretboard. Incredible acoustic tone, with a lively resonance. Rich overtones with a smooth top end and clear, focused bass. The sound is accurately translated by the pickup. Mint condition, essentially as new. Smooth setup. A stellar instrument. Period. Body is 17" x 3 1/8" with X bracing. Nut is 1.75", scale 25.2". Neck thickness 7/8" at the 5th fret. Neck profile somewhere between C and D. Volume and tone controls under the pickguard. Cedar creek hard case. Feel free to contact me for additional information. Asking 18,000 USD. Offers welcome. Replacement cost, if you were to order a new one, would be significantly higher.
