Default Strap button placement...bolt on neck?

I'm considering adding a strap button to a few of my guitars...depending on how the first one goes. After searching past post I think I want to place them on the under side of the neck closest to the first string.
My question is how can I be sure I don't have a bolt on neck. Can you see the bolt thru the sound hole?
Guitars I want to add the button to are:
80 Sigma DR-28
91 Guild D4-12
94 Martin DM
Thanks

The Martin is a mortise and tenon with a single bolt close to the heel cap. Check out pics # 8 and 9:

The guild is a straight-up dovetail so no worries there.

I can't speak to the sigma.

Thanks for the info, great link. Looks like I go above the neck bolt but below adjustment rod...

Somewhere in frets.com there is talk of using strong magnets to find bolts in the heel before fitting a strap button.
