Why open mics are fun
So I write this throwaway humorous three chord ditty in ten minutes called College Town. The premise being I like living in a college town, except there are too many young people here. Work it into my set, reasonably well received.
If it is a slow night and we've run through the list, we'll often play through again for those that care to do one more song. I get up and ponder out loud what I'm going to play, when a couple shouts out play College Town again. Really I say? Please. Well I never fall into repeating anything within about six or eight week's time much less get a request to do an original twice in a night so I complied. It's the kind of song that really should be played after a couple of beers anyway. What a hoot.

For me, it's "Head of Maintenance" or "Ballad of the Lost Sock". Both stupid but fun...
