If it has to be a Taylor I'd vote for the x10 (dread), x16 (GS), or x18 (GO). But a nice D-18 would cover all these bases too?

Those are the three models I’ve been specifically looking at. Funny. Also the
D-18 is my choice in Martin maybe the d-35.

If you’re looking used, consider Taylor’s X15 (jumbo) size.

BT...the D-18 is a wonderful guitar. Nothing it can't do for me. From fingerstyle to flat picking to heavy strumming. In my opinion it's Martin's best value in a dread...hands down! You really should audition one?

I don’t think I’d want the V-bracing. I’d stick with a 2017 or 18 810e or 810e dlx and you’d be set!!

Taylor DN8.

No cutaway. No factory electronics. Great price for a no-frills guitar with excellent build quality and wood.

I really think that pound for pound, the 310 — and earlier equivalents like the DN3 and the USA-made 210 — is the best all-around, do-everything guitar Taylor offers. I think all their dreadnoughts are underrated, but the spruce/sapele combo from Taylor is particularly nice, and also happens to be the best bang for buck.

I agree. I’ve had mine for 7 years now. Great guitar and a great strummer.

Wow, prices have really gone up. I had to sell mine (sunburst like the one in the link) about 5 years ago (thankfully it didn’t sell and I was able to sell a non guitar related item) and I tried to sell it here for $1300 in excellent condition and couldn’t even get a nibble. I think someone finally offered $1000 but I wasn’t going to give it away.

The 810 is top of my list right now. I own a spruce/hog OM so I want something a bit bigger and fuller sounding. Why not the V bracing?

My ears (tinnitus) cannot handle big body strummers anymore, but my 324 (GA model) is my main guitar for strumming and does a great job. It is an excellent fingerpicking guitar as well. Very versatile.

While you are looking at other brands, don't forget Larrivee.

My 528e, followed by my 710e SS, followed by my 524e SEB.

Really, though, all my Taylor guitars are great strummers.

You could start from the right and work your way down to the left.

My 1996 510. It's a cannon. Light as a potato chip and probably the loudest guitar I've ever played in my 33 years of playing guitars.

If I didn’t already have my 1995 model 810, I’d be snatching this one up!!

I have a Taylor 110, and it can handle easily all the strumming I throw at it.
