Default Strung Up

I've got the Piña parlor lullaby guitar strung up. I have a few things to do yet. It currently has a temporary Cherry wood saddle while it settles into being a guitar and I've got some Macassar Ebony tuner buttons to make yet but, I was eager to hear what this little guitar has to say;

Even with the temporary saddle it already has a rich voice. The more Redwood topped guitars I make the more I like Redwood. Particularly since I've stocked up on the best Redwood tops. This one is a Carter top from their "Totally Awesome" tree. It's a great match for this little guitar.

I'll post some full body shots up once the tuner buttons and bone saddle are installed.

Thanks for viewing!
Mark

Thanks for the comments! We were going for a pretty little guitar and I am encouraged by the feedback. Thanks again!

That by definition is a pretty little guitar! Not overdone in the theme department and yet fits the role it was intended for! Another perfect blend of colors and appointments from the Hatcher shop!

You do a beautiful job - nice choices all around.

Are your redwood tops in the same thickness range as other woods? Do you use a different glue on the bridge?

Thanks

Ed

Thanks Ed,

Redwood usually comes in about the same thickness as cedar. Which make low density Redwood attractive. Not having any adhesion problems with Redwood, I treat it like cedar. Same glue

Thanks for commenting,
Mark

I'm curious about the star inlays on the rosette, did you use a black color epoxy to set them in? thus showing the black ring around the star? Pretty cool look, those last couple of tiny ones look like they must have been "fun" to get right

Thanks jessupe, Yeah the black is there to increase the contrast. Epoxy didn't work though because it soaks in too easily so it's dyed Titebond.

Another beautiful guitar, Mark. The lullaby theme is wonderfully executed.

if this isn't one of the tricks of the trade of the year, i don't know what will be!
Although doesn't Titebond still soak in plenty? or is that reduced because of the wood you used in the rosette?

Thanks Mark!!
