O.K., so what's your LEAST favorite Beatles song?
For me, it's Mr. Moonlight. I hate John's "screaming" at the beginning, and the organ makes it sound like a bad church song (sorry - there are some bad church songs, you know).

For me, if you can call it a song it’s Revolution 9.

Easily, "Wild Honey Pie" from the white album.
Would have been "Revolution #9", but it doesn't qualify as a song. I like "Mr. Moonlight", and it's on my favorite Beatles' album, Beatles for Sale. Doesn't matter to me who wrote it, just if the Beatles performed it.

Revolution 9. Other than You Know My Name, Look Up My Number I like pretty much everything else by them.....to one degree or another.

The horrid version of "Across the Universe" with Yoko singing. Actually, with the exception of "Bungalow Billy," ANYTHING on which Yoko is singing, including any of his solo stuff too.
I'm not a big Yoko fan, but John clearly embodied the "love is blind" truism. Except, in this case, love is also deaf. The woman cannot sing. sm |

#1. Baby, You're a Rich Man Too. Dreadful song.
#2. Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Should've taken an hammer to this one despite it being on a truly great album. |

"Good Morning" from Sergeant Peppers, a grating piece of nothing with a rooster crowing.

Never been a big fan of “Helter Skelter,” though I read somewhere that no one EVER claims that song as their favorite Beatles song.
So I’ll lie and claim it as my favorite just so it won’t feel so lonely and unwanted... With the Beatles, though, they changed so immensely over the arc of their incredibly successful career as a band that you really have to talk about different periods: early Beatles (Meet The Beatles, With The Beatles, Hard Day’s Night); middle period Beatles (Beatles For Sale, Help!, Rubber Soul); Psychedelic Beatles (Revolver, Sgt Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour) and late period Beatles (The White Album and everything afterwards.) There’s a lot of filler on the first two albums that I didn’t include on any of my playlists, and some of it’s pretty crappy, like “Boys,” “Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby” and - yes - “Mr. Moonlight.” I think the world could probably have survived without “Blue Jay Way” on Magical Mystery Tour, and, honestly, there’s a lot of filler and pure unadulterated twaddle on The White Album, Let It Be and Abbey Road. But I’m not going to identify which songs I dislike on those albums, because they mean a lot to a lot of people. I will say that I think it’s ironic that the best songs on Abbey Road were written by George and Ringo.... Wade Hampton Miller |
