I still volunteer for stuff like this because for some reason I still think like I am in my 30’s.
I am worse, just got back from playing basketball with a bunch of 20-somethings. Average age of our team - 46 and we won most of our games. Me? Well over 70. What am I thinking to do this stuff?

In my mind I still think I can do what I did while in my 20’s. A very painful back condition however reminds me that I am far removed from those days when I felt and acted like Superman. Not having a pain free day since March 1990 is a terrible way to go through life, so take care of your body.

Some days I feel my age (55), some days I feel older. But most days I feel like Peter Pan, though I can’t fly, without a ticket

Until the day my Grandmother passed away at 97 she was 21-plus

Until I developed hip problems a few years ago I felt like 35, I'm mid 60's. Now after a hip replacement I feel 45 again. I can do anything but run and jump. Maybe this is related, I've read somewhere (maybe here) that men are actually bald 4 years before we realize it.

I'm going to be 54 this month. My wife and kids say I behave like a 10-year old. What do they know? They're a bunch of poopy heads!

I'll be 44 this month.

In some ways I feel like I'm 25, and other ways I feel like I'm 65.

When I was in my 20s, I used to think that life is weird and unpredictable but it will stop whenever I finished college, bought a house, and had kids. Good lord, it just keeps getting crazier by the day.

My grandmother had a good saying on her birthday. Every year I would ask her how old she was, and every year she would say "still 39."

I have always spent a lot of time around older people, in both my personal and professional lives. I have always enjoyed it, in fact as a kid I related to adults and especially older adults much better than folks my own age. And now I am one, and happy to be still "breathing air and pumping blood"-- which is how I will sometimes answer the question "how are you doing?" I also like to answer that question with "wonderful" or "never better" as I usually mean it, but it keeps people guessing

But in my "mind's eye" I'm still somewhere between my late 30's and early 50's, depending on the day.

I am 62 but most days don't feel it. I think I'm still about 35. Only with less hair, tricky knees, bifocals, and a slightly impaired sense of balance. Occasionally I will do some project out in the yard, pruning burford hollies comes to mind, and realize the next morning that I am NOT 35 anymore.

Interesting question, and not easy to answer for me.

I'm older than the OP, and quite aware of my body reminding me of my age, so I don't have those "well I thought I was 30 until I...." moments. I do recall having them in my 40s and 50s. But I think the OP was aiming at something less physical, "mental age", that age or we consider ourselves to be in some dream or discorporate state when our body isn't reminding us.

There, I'm trying to remind myself of my age, the number of times I've been out around the course, trying to use that realization and experience constructively. But I feel I need to make an effort to do that, because I also feel (and have always felt) a little immature. I still do things on a whim, postpone responsibilities, and forget to give my family their propers. So what is my mental age? It really seems to be all over the place.
