Calling All Hog Guitar Owners!!

I have the Guild Westerly D-120ce and I just put on a set of Curt Mangan's roundcore 13-56 PB's last weekend and I really like them. This is one of the guitars I keep in cgdgcd and other drop tunings.

I have been satisfied foe a long time with Martin Flexcore strings on my Martin D-15M. It was the sound I was looking for.

I now use Martin Authentic SP 12-54 80/20 on my Martin Jeff Tweedy . In fact I’m now using them on all my acoustics . Great sound and last for ages

What is the difference between the Authentic SP and the Acoustic SP strings? I have the Acoustic SP version of this string, MSP3100 vs. yours is the MA140 I guess.

Loved the Monels om my 00015, till I tried D'Addario Nickel Bronze. like them even better.

I have a Martin 000-15M and with all the mahogany Monel love around here I had to try them. After one full month I took them off, wanted to give them a real chance but too dull of this guitar. Put Martin PB lights on there, they were great, then next change was DR Sunbeam PB lights. This guitar shines with PB strings, you don't really know til ya try.

3100's = old version, 140's = new version

Thanks, it was confusing because I just bought some 3100 and it looked like they might have been the last ones.

I've tried bright and dark sounding strings. Bright strings didn't really work well and dark strings are better at bringing out the 'woodiness' of the tone. However there is a threshold between dark and dull strings and I've drawn that line at Martin Lifespan PB. I wouldn't go any darker that that.

My Martin JDP II has mahogany back & sides.
I thought Martin Monels would be on it forever but I read some good AGF reports on Ernie Ball Aluminium Bronze so tried them out.
Tone shift as expected but a very nice alternative.

I've tried a lot of different strings on my Guild GAD25 and have settled on DR Rare PB. They sound fuller and more resonance to me.

Second the D’Add Nickel Bronze. I tried to love monels (full nickel alloy) on several guitars, but the nickel plated D’addarios just project better and are more responsive on my 000-15sm.

My D-18 is strung with D'Addario EJ17's.
