Thanks Rik, I appreciate your comment. I love this song. Another one Tommy does is Ruby's Eyes which may be hard to find a good tutorial on that. I force myself to use Tab as a last resort. I'd rather watch someone do a slower version with closeup of the left hand. Ed

Do you find that you prefer a certain album? I find myself gravitating more toward stuff off "Only" and "Endless Road." I need to get more up to date on his recordings.

Ed, The Crafter sounds really clean, Nice work on this one, I also like ,"Those Who Wait" (Tommy Emmanuel Cover) that you did..Solo

Right now I'm listening to and learning from the Labor DVD. I recommend this to any TE enthusiast. It is definitely for advanced learners. Beginners would only get discouraged trying to learn off of this dvd. I say that because many would find his "Slowed up" teaching of the parts still to fast for the more intricate picking finger parts too. 40+ years of playing helps out a lot.
I'll learn Endless Road someday.

Thanks Solo. I like the Crafter's feel. It's a 1.75" nut width which makes it nice for finger picking. On some songs, like Mombassa, my Hummingbird is actually easier to play since certain chords fret a little easier and the shorter scale of 24 3/4". I'm continuing to polish up "Those Who Wait" as well.

Default Mombasa almost there

Been hitting Mombasa pretty hard. Tried to record it this AM, just not quite there. What a challenging song. Couple of rough spots in the bridge mainly, the index finger bar and pinky stretch covering 6 frets - whoa, that's a bear.

I can't wait to hear it! Have you taken a peek at Classical Gas yet? I have; it's pretty daunting.

Some TE songs are on the back burner like Classical Gas, maybe someday I'll get up the drive to learn it. Parts of it sound doable and other parts of it are out of sight...daunting is a good word for it. Learning a TE song is like beginning all over again.

Excellent playing on this...very uplifting type of song. Listening just ups the days mood a bit. That Crafter sounds amazing...I listened on my studio monitors first and it sounded awesome...but I also listened on a laptop with tiny speakers and it still sounded good, so kudos on the recording process and mix. Well done enjoyed it and thanks for sharing.

Thanks a bunch. I'm now playing five of his songs. Recently did an outdoor concert and include four of his songs, hadn't learned Mombasa yet enough to perform. I'm almost ready to record that one, but in may be a little rough yet. Angelina is a very emotional song and it still brings tears. I'm glad the mix sounds good.
The sound chain: 2 - SM57 mics 8 inches from sound source. One in front of Fender Acoustasonic SFX (the old big monster they discontinued around 8 years ago), the other mic in front of the sound hole of the guitar. Recorded without too much EQ into a Fostex FD4 (4 track digital recorder). Mixed down with EQ into Garage Band - stereo - then MP3 encoded "Highest quality" into Itunes. Uploaded to soundcloud.com.
