Carried around a blue tupperware container with clear hinged lid full of strings back when I was gigging every week.

Today, have shoe boxes in upstairs and basement. Deep rack drawer on main floor.

Hi, I use a product from "The Really Useful Box" company. I think this was designed for keeping CDs in?

It has a pretty waterproof lid and I keep two desiccant bags and a cheap hygrometer in it.

I bought this on Amazon and like it. The width is perfect for packaged strings and it's "airtight". I keep some desiccant packs in there as well.

How many packs of strings will this hold for you? I'm just using the USPS boxes that my string suppliers send to me, but I've considered getting something airtight, since I buy a year's supply at a time.

At 11.25” x 7.75” x 6”, this food storage bin offers substantial size and high quality all at once.

I would imagine at least 25 sets. This seems like a great idea.

I stored my electric rare, and no longer made, guitar strings in a dresser drawer in my basement studio which I though wasn't very damp. After a year, or so, they had rust all over them. Ouch! NOW, I've been using those Dampit green weenie humidifiers i my acoustic guitar cases and, now, it appears that the phosphor bronze and bright bronze strings on the guitars are tarnished and dull sounding.

Considering I have 50+ sets of DR Rare alone, thanks to the BOGO offer, I bought one of these, plus an XL version they had for a few $$ more. I figure I can keep the DR Rare in the XL and my other misc. in the regular size bin. My GHS are double sealed in a bag, so if they don't fit, that's probably ok.

I have 28 sets of strings in there now, but could still add a few more.

I use something like this. It's cheap and out of the way, so it isn't in a location in my studio to be a show piece.

You can buy something nicer, like this.

I like that, Glenn. I have an open drawer piece of furniture with something similar size to your first link on top. However, mine has ~24 smaller drawers, which seemed like a good idea at the time, but I'm thinking fewer, bigger drawers is more practical and easier to fit larger items (cleaning, maintenance, etc.).

Thanks. I have my own weird system of which strings to group in which drawer, but for some reason I seem to know where everything is quickly. This has worked really well for me and takes up minimal room in my studio.

Not all cigar boxes will work. I did find a couple that were the right size.

Update: building off of Glenn's suggestion of the Amazon air-tight container, I ordered two of them. The one he linked and this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The second one is slightly larger and allows for two rows of DR string boxes (or similar cardboard packages). I was able to fit 23 per row x 2 rows = 46 sets along the base, plus another 20 sets sitting flat on top (4 sets x 5 piles), for a grand total of 66 sets of strings in one air-tight box!

I recently ordered a ton of DR Rare strings via the recent BOGO promotion, so I have about 80 sets, which is just over a one year supply. But I have a few 6-pks of GHS PB lights, GHS Vintage Bronze single packs, and a variety of experimental strings (maybe another 15-20 sets). And I have a smaller assortment of electric strings.

So, I ordered two more XL bins, which fit nicely into the shelves of my furniture in the music room. Thx again for the topic and to Glenn's inspiration for the plastic bins (previously, I just used the shipping boxes, which are adequate, but not as effective or aesthetically pleasing).
