Nope still on the truck. UPS man isn't looking forward to unloading it, though.

Big box, two drivers - sounds like one of those late-60's/70s oversize 2x15" Fender Bassman/Showman cabs to me (still my favorite for bass, BTW - moves more air than Hurricane Sandy)...

I'm still thinking something like the VT22, or one of the 70s "Thor's Hammer" Twin Reverbs.

Okay. Give up?

It's a Hammond/Leslie G37 rotary speaker guitar combo.

After messing around with simulator pedals and a single-rotor Motion Sound guitar combo I gave in to the inevitable and got one.

Let the incredulity and questions begin.

I did have a casualty: the dual foot switch got crushed in the carton. Did I mention that the rotors don't turn without the foot switch? The Hammond/Leslie folks are taking care of me and I've found a workaround until the new one arrives.

Aah. The only combo on the planet heavier than a JC120

After reading this I thought maybe it was going to be a Liberty gun safe.

I'd take a fire truck.

They are a pain to clean and shine. Trust me: I used to do that. I do miss riding the back step. They don't do that anymore.

It is 26.75" tall and 20.5" square. Built like a tank. DC servo motors control the rotors. At chorale (slow) speed it is absolutely dead quite and at fast speed it is quieter than a classic Leslie. I spent several hours last night playing with the thing with different guitars and plan to do an extensive review once I spend more time on it. I've got goals of things to try and so forth before I start assembling the text. I don't typically like to crank out a review during the "honeymoon phase" because things can change so much after that. But I'm glad to give initial impressions now if anyone is interested.

And here is my temporary "fingerswitch" to hold me until the replacement arrives from Hammond/Leslie:

That's a three position switch wired with the positions slow/brake/fast. Not perfect, but not bad for bits from the junque drawer and a few minutes with the soldering iron. I think the box once housed a lavalier mic.
