Default Just Arrived : Bourgeois DB Signature Deluxe OM Cut, Bearclaw Italian Spruce, Myrtle

ON CONSIGNMENT, NO TRADES!

(USED)
For those easily tempted by beautiful tonewoods... you've been warned!

This drop-dead gorgeous OM from Bourgeois is just jaw dropping. The wood selection is inspired, stunning bearclaw Italian spruce paired with highly figured Myrtle, all tied together by Dana's DB Signature cosmetics. This is fine guitar building at its very best. If you can stop looking at it long enough to play it, you'll hear a sophisticated, warm tone, as rich as it is balanced. Guitars like this don't come along every day!

Italian spruce is at the upper end of the stiffness spectrum (the rare bearclaw examples are especially prized) and even though this guitar looks to be designed for fingerstyle, it certainly isn't afraid of a flat pick. Single note runs ring with uncanny clarity, and the strummed voice lands somewhere between rosewood and koa. Bourgeois used AP (animal protein) glue in the construction, a traditional construction technique that enhances the transfer of vibration through the top and braces. The braces, as on all Bourgeois guitars, are scalloped Adirondack spruce.

Lets get back to those good looks: the DB Signature package includes figured koa binding, a specially designed herringbone trim, a 3-ring rosette with wood accents, and a fabulous Ziracote peghead overlay featuring a small pearl flourish. The sides and back have an additional maple purfling line, a crisp detail that our eyes definitely appreciate. The marquetry back strip couldn't match the tonal palette of this guitar any better.

Specs include 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" string spacing at the saddle, modified V neck profile with satin finish. Long 25 1/2" scale. Tall bone saddle, bone bridge pins. Soft cutaway for access to the uppermost frets. Nickel Waverly tuners with Snakewood buttons. Short-pattern presentation inlay on the ebony fingerboard.

The condition is basically perfect, with no dings, scratches or fret wear. The pick guard is included "on the side" or can be installed before delivery. Includes original TKL hardshell case.

A feast for the eyes and the ears. Nobody makes an OM better than Dana Bourgeois.
