Let's Dance (David Bowie cover)
The "bass" is just the acoustic guitar with the EQ tweaked.

Very nice Colin! You have a very nice, smooth strumming style! And I like what you did with the "bass"! And you did a good job with the vocal part, as well, and nice lead playing!

Excellent! I thought that was very accomplished and nicely sung...not an easy part to sing at all and you gave it your own feel.
I could imagine that version coming up in a movie. |

Thanks Glenn, Owen!
I was inspired to try playing it after watching an interview with Nile Rodgers explaining how David originally brought the song to him on acoustic guitar in A minor, and how it had an almost folky feel. Nile jazzily extended the chords and took it up a half step to B flat minor which certainly made it brighter, but even harder for me to sing, and a bit brittle sounding on acoustic guitar. I also noticed how David added a Latin feel intro when playing the song live in later years, so I tried to follow that path for an acoustic version. Last edited by ColinB; 01-23-2018 at 05:25 PM. |

Very nice. Wondered how you would do this. Would you consider posting the chords?

Thank you, Doug - I'm still not entirely happy with the "bass" sound, so I may tweak it again or go back to the flat EQ.
Regarding the chords, I based them on how Nile Rodgers described the arrangement from here: https://youtu.be/HOfRqL17a8Q?t=29m6s And I went back to David's original Am key, so: VERSE: Am11/// Am11/// Am6/// Am6/// F6/// F6/// Am7/// Am7/// X2 CHORUS: G/// G/// C/ D/ C(Maj7)/ D/ G/// G/// C/ D/ C(Maj7)/ D/ G/// Em/// C(Maj7)/// D/// D/// D/// D/// Last edited by ColinB; 01-23-2018 at 05:25 PM. |
