Default String ideas for my WS1000

I did a search but didn't find much, so can some of you chime in on this question?

I have a RainSong WS1000 that was built in Dec. of '01. It has always been sort of a 'second guitar' for me, but now I seem to be playing it more often and would like to figure out what strings to try for the best tone.

I've been using D'addario EXP16's for a few years (light gauge coated phosphor bronze), and I like 'em okay, but what else should I try?

Thanks!

If it was mine, I would use EXP-16s. So, I guess I am no help.

I believe that no one can really help you, since we don't have your ears or your playing technique. All we can say is keep trying different strings until something works for you. For example, I recently tried some John Pearse Pure Nickel strings on my Blackbird Lucky 13. I generally like these strings on other guitars, but NOT on that one. Yuk! Carbon fiber guitars do seem to be more sensitive to string types than wood guitars.

My WS-1000 typically wears Elixir Nanoweb PB's in either medium or light gauge, EJ-16 or EJ-17, or GHS White Bronze in either light or medium gauge. It often wears mediums for alternate slacked tunings, and sometimes lives tuned down in standard minus a whole step (D-d) to make certain songs easier to sing. I routinely play in several alternate tunigns, and tuning up and down is the quickest way to kill a set of strings. When working through my tunings, I either use cheaper non-coated strings like EJ-16/17 or just wait until the set that is on there is almost dead anyway - nothing to lose.

I like Martin Retro monel strings on my Jumbo Rainsong...the silver looks good with the shark inlays.

GHS White Bronze are a silver-gray color and look good with the sharks too.

I agree with Earl, CF guitars do seem to show the differences of different brands of strings more than most wood guitars. When I had the H-WS1000 I liked the Elixir PB Nano's and the TI Plectrums. Try as many as you can....good luck..
