Glenn,

That was superb, both playing and singing. Loved the arrangement.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thank you Maplebaby!

How nice to know that you felt this came out okay! Thank you for your kind words!

I like the Olson SJ for this song because it's such a mellow sounding guitar, and with jazz oriented stuff, sharp edges on the tones, at least for me, don't work all that well. And I was probably influenced, too, by the version of this song done by James Taylor, though my version is not really a copy of what JT did. And I'm not sure JT even played on his version of this song.

It really is a terrific old song!

Thanks,
Glenn

How nice of you to take the time to listen and comment! I'm really glad you appreciate a song like this -- it is so very different from the flat picking style that you so obviously excel at. I'm so glad you liked this, Allen!

Have a great Christmas!

Thank you Mark!

I am so pleased that you like this! Thanks so much for listening and for your supportive comments!

I don't clearly remember where I picked up this song arrangement. I have been playing this for a few years... I think I got it out of a fake book and then modified that arrangement with some of my own ideas. So, to some extent, this is partly my arrangement. I can probably find the chords and lyrics that I used for this video somewhere on my computer if you would like me to post this information. Please let me know.

Have a great Christmas, Mark!

Loved it back in 2017, and loved all over again this evening. What a great job, Glenn. You really sell that song, both vocally and instrumentally.

Thanks for the Christmas spirit.

Roger

Hi Roger!

Thank you so much! How rewarding to know that you remember this from a couple of years ago! That's wonderful!

This song is such a quality piece of songwriting, listening to it again, in spite of the fact that I am hearing myself do this -- and we are always our own worst critics -- I love so many parts of this song. It is just so beautifully constructed with just the right mood and the right sounds and the right lyrics.

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Roger!

- Glenn

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your response. I have copied the chords and lyrics below. I have to add spaces to keep the chord changes in the right places over the lyrics, so please forgive all the extra symbols. Let me know if this makes sense Mark.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (Glenn version, key of A)
