Martin discount on custom builds
Quick one - I think. I have read that forum dealers will offer a 40% discount off MSRP. My question is if that applies to a custom build as well. If not, is there any negotiating to be done?

Your best bet is to check with a high volume Martin dealer although I believe that there's less room to bargain on a custom build...

It depends on the dealer, and it helps if you've you've already established a relationship with them. But some of them will give you a pretty good discount.

I just had a great experience with Maurys Music. Maybe you want to give them a call?

I've purchased 5 custom shop Martins and always got at least 40% off MSRP.
For the record, they were already built (brought to the annual Martin Event).

I have only done one custom Martin before (Jan 2019) and got 40% off MSRP from a reputable dealer in the US (was a forum sponsor here) and had it sent over to Australia.

I can't answer for all Martin dealers, but I ordered a CS Martin from Maury last year. He was very helpful with the order. He knows how to handle the process. His price when I ordered the guitar was right around 40% off of Invoice. His final price when he delivered the guitar was discounted a little bit more.
And I had the guitar in my hands less than 24 hours after I paid for it. Excuse me, I'm going to play it right now! |
