Default Broke a tuner. Is this an opportunity?

Two-year-old granddaughter knocked over my Fender PM-2 onto a hard tile floor this evening. The G-string tuning peg broke.

The OEM tuners look about like what I see under the Grover brand name for sale on Amazon. Nickel finish, open, screws center to center at an inch or the teeniest bit greater. I see specs for one at 1.00 inches and another at 1.010 inches.

Knowing how we all go crazy for bling when it comes to parts and bling, is this a message to me, as in "go for the Waverly set at $125, or the butter bean ones from Stew Mac, available relic'd or bright?

Is this a guitar that your 2 year old granddaughter will be knocking over consistently? If so, replace the one tuner. If not, then absolutely get the waverly’s!

Nothing wrong with Grover Sta-Tites 18:1, I have them on a guitar.

I also have Waverly tuners on another guitar and can't see why they cost 3 times more than the Grovers.

Avoid the cheaper 14:1 Sta-Tites.

I think the Grovers are still one of the rare great value bargains out there in the world of all things guitar.

Check out GFS Guitar Fetish. They have Wilkinson tuners for very affordable prices. I have three sets that look great and work great as well. (If you want good tuners at decent prices)

Or go all out and get the bling.

Totally up to you, of course.

Agreed. I swapped out some standard tuners on my Alvarez for the Grover Sta-Tites 18:1 and that guitar ability to stay in tune with minimal adjustment is much improved.

Best,

Another vote for the Grover open-year tuners.

No don't replace the tuner.

Go out and buy a new guitar.
