I always thought the Big Baby sounded better than the GS mini. I struggled to find a smaller guitar that sounded quality until I found the Martin Djr.

Dave has a point, the Seagull is a good one too. Here's a comparison of the 00 Alvarez (in the middle) and a classical on the left and a Seagull Folk on the right:

I have a Simon and Patrick Woodland Pro Folk that is very nice and would fit the bill. Solid mahogany back and sides with a spruce top.

It's hard to beat a Blueridge if you can find one. I got my Br361 for under $600 used.

Wow. Way more responses than I expected. I have some research to do.

I live in a small town so don't get the luxury of getting my hands on most guitars I buy. I've only received one dud that I ended up selling.

My budget will likely be in the $500USD zone. Mainly because that's the price range I feel comfortable leaving laying around the house.

To me a Parlor is an 0 or smaller. Many would argue that it has to be size 1 or smaller.

The various Alvarez models being suggested are all 00 size, in spite of Alvarez calling them a parlor. I think they are great guitars but bigger than what I think a Parlor is.

If a 00 is an ok size, then the various versions of the Alvarez really punch above their price bracket. Otherwise, I would look at one of the Breedlove Parlors (there are a couple under $400) or the aforementioned Art and Lutherie Ami.
