Got to take my children to see Yo Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble
Just by chance, I was at the performance centre a few months ago and was able to get tickets to see https://www.silkroad.org/ Yo Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble.
My children are 11 and 15. What an absolute treat. Amongst other pieces, they did an arrangement of Take The A-Train that was amazing. I just thought I'd share.

What a great musician!
I saw him one time, many years ago. Also on the bill were Stephan Grappelli and David Grisman. They played together and separately. I was much more familiar with the other 2, but I have to say Mr. Ma stole the show. Did I mention this was also my only visit to Carnegie Hall? Thanks for the memories

Nice! Sounds like a great show.
Yo Yo Ma is a must see musician imo. That cello tone of his must be heard live. I caught a performance of his many years ago at a relatively small venue, Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA. Great acoustics, and the music he played really highlighted that deep and sonorous sound that only a well played cello can produce. No mics needed either. Well worth the price of admission, even if you are not a fan of his music. His musicianship alone may win you over. The cello is a powerful instrument in that way. It can really draw the emotions out of you.

The Silk Road Ensemble's mission is to bridge the 'continental divide' with music. Yo Yo Ma was given a Kennedy Arts Award because of some of the arrangements. It absolutely boggles my mind that one could arrange for musicians you can't actually speak with for instruments that you aren't pretty familiar with.
My daughter is going to be 16 (she still thinks boys are stoopid thankfully) and my son is 11. I didn't go out of my way to prepare them, but they were aware this was a big deal. Afterwards, I told them it would be a story they'd tell their grandchildren. No matter what. I always try and remind them how very fortunate they are. (I try to remind them how they have an amazingly good-looking AND humble father too, but that they haven't seemed to buy.) It's all about the stories you can tell.
