Cased and humidified (when needed). I have three young kids. :-)

This is the one negative of keeping them out all the time, but I play them often enough that they only require a quick wipe down to remove the dust.

In their cases with Humidipaks...except my old college beater which, during non-winter months, is freed from the case and stays on a wall hanger for a quick grab & play.

Looks similar to my living room. 2 banjos, 1 mandolins, 1 uke, case of harps, 3 acoustics and 2 resos stay on stands. Keep a Hohner beater in another room on a stand in open G.

Depends
My baby (Masterbilt DR500MCE) is in its case. The Yamaha FS700S is on a stand where I can get to it easily. If the Yammie gets dusty or picks up a ding or two, who cares. With East Texas' humidity no need for humidifiers, would cause 'em to mildew.

Acoustics stay in cases with sound hole humidifiers and hydrometers in the cases. Electrics stay out on stands.

Always out so they get played very often. Either hanging or on Hercules stands. Fortunately for where I live humidity is rarely a problem.

Mine are always out on stands too, Chris... I want to see them all the time where they call out "play meeeeeee". For spruce tops, I also like the aged golden look... that doesn't happen sitting in a case.

Between difficulty in maintaining a consistent humidity level and a number of pets, including the airborne variety, I keep my guitars in cases. Easier and one less thing to worry about.
