The big question is... do you want the acoustic to sound JUST like it does on your lap or do you want to to sound good, but not accurate as possible ?

Acoustic guitar amps are designed to reproduce a different range of tones than an electric guitar amp, as a general rule. Personally, I choose the amp to match the style. If it's more jazz like stuff, I go with a solid state amp with it set clean. If I want some "grit" I choose either my Carvin Vintage 16, which is like a Blues Jr. But, I run most everything through a small pedal board to ad EQ or delay. Often I play my acoustic into what ever amp is close and see how they play together. Sometimes, an odd pairing turns out to be new and fun sounding.

I've happily used my Sedona Rivera 60w tube amplify for my acoustics with K&K pure mini pickups, to my telecaster with hot pickups. For over 20 years.
