When I’m learning a new song it’s in my head constantly morning, noon and night. After a few days I’ve gone over it so much in my head that actually playing it seems like second nature.

Always. Lately it's the soundtrack to the AMC series Lodge 49. Trippy and silly.

All the time.
And I frequently find myself drumming with my teeth. Nobody else hears it, but each tooth has a different sound. Just like a real kit. Weird, I know.

I used to have music but the voices made it stop.

Interesting question - I used to be plagued by that kind of thing but I think my concerted listening efforts to classic jazz (Coltrane especially) cleared my mind - or should I say “blew my mind” - now I can enjoy peace and quiet and I’ll forever be grateful to guys like Coltrane for clearing out the cobwebs and leaving a clean slate.

Yes, both my wife and I always have a song playing in our heads. We frequently ask each other, "what's your song?" Mine is frequently something I don't know very well, and what few words I know keep spinning over and over.

For as long as I can remember, music has been part of my memories. From "Davt Crockett" at age of 5 years to Beethoven now....
Original songs seem to surface just before entering REM sleep.I always forget them in the morning. I believe it reveals a healthy mind and brain. During the day, it happens when I hear someone whistle a familiar tune or something on the car radio. This question should be posed to non musicians to see if they have the same thing going on.... |
