...the crude sophomoric humor that was the hallmark of the National Lampoon was always offensive to some....to others....that were often stoned...it was hilarious....I guess I was in the latter group...and still am...

Exactly! It’s just a silly movie. Like Caddie Shack, Stripes, Old School, Tommy Boy, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Just goofiness to forget about the worlds problems for a few hours. Only at the AGF would it start an argument. Geez

Hilarious... and, apparently, spontaneous on Belushi's part... hence Stephen Bishop's absolutely PERFECT reaction! Remember Stephen (On and On) Bishop?
I can say, from personal experience, that it is an exhilarating feeling to actually "EL KABONG!!!" someone... don't know of a guitar player who hasn't at least wondered how that would go... As in Animal House, I used a lightweight nylon string cheapie (my only guitar at the time, though...). In my defense, lest you think I was overly aggressive at 14 years old, is that the guitar had just been sat on - directly on the face and crunched a bit - and my friend who sat on it was the recipient of the back of the guitar on top of his head, ended up with strings around his neck along with the rest of the guitar, my little Marco Polo... He was laughing ( a little drunk) when he sat on it, and he was laughing harder after being EL KABONG-ED!
