Can't find the source now - somewhere on YouTube I think.
You're right - I found an article where Bottas admits the prospect of a 1 year contract with Mercedes didn't appeal to him and Alfa offered him a 3 year contract as their designated 'number 1' driver so he has taken it and now feels more relaxed knowing his future for the next 3 years.

That would be unfortunate for the sport. As previously stated - let the best man win.

Hamilton is at the end of his career. Mercedes is wise to bring in a hot, young driver. Hamilton may very well retire when he wins one more championship.

My Two Cents,
Scott

Might be the best thing for the sport. Certainly for Mercedes. Bring him in where he can learn from one of the all time best drivers for a year and then take over as #1. Learning what a good #2 can bring to the table will also be beneficial when he becomes the #1. Oh, he will challenge Lewis, no doubt. Bottas often did, particularly in qualifying.

Think of it as a rookie quarterback sitting behind an experienced one for a season; except yu still get to race. Worked out for Patrick Mahomes.

Perhaps. But, George certain showed what he could do last year in Bahrain when he stood in for Lewis. If it wasn't for a certain botched pit stop he very well could have won that race.

Russell took full advantage of the opportunity and proved the incredible difference it can make when he got to drive the best car in F1 .. and apparently he didn't even fit properly and had to compromise .. imagine next year when they build the car around him .. looking forward to 2022!

Something else to come out of that Monza race - the McLaren 1-2 finish pushes them up into 3rd position above Ferrari in the 2021 Constructor's Championship - apparently the prize money difference is in millions of dollars!

Yes, Bruce, I mentioned exactly that about a day ago. How long has it been since Ferrari has slipped to #4 in F-1. Great to see McLaren back in the mix. And even Williams is showing signs of life.

2022 should be great.

Uh, last year, when Ferrari finished the Constructors in 6th. FYI McLaren finished 3rd last year.

Ferrari is going to have to watch out for Alpine, who is only 6 points adrift of them. Particularly since Alonso seems to have found his pace.
