Default Enya X4 Pro Reverb Noise and Hiss

UPDATE: MY REPLACEMENT GUITAR DOES NOT HAVE THE HISS ISSUE!

When plugged in with none of the effects engaged, the sound is noise free. But turn in the reverb and there’s a ton of hiss and other noise.

Enya is asking if I can wait until the end of the month because it’s the Chinese New Year and their technicians are not in the office. My return period will be up before then. Maybe I just have to do an exchange through Amazon.

Here’s a video:

I do hear the hiss during the reverb segment of your video. It blooms with the onset of a note and fades away as the volume of the note diminishes. I'll have to give a closeup listen to my Enya X4 Pro through my JBL Eon One Compact later today before the Bills/Dolphins game and report back to you.

Amazon and Enya don’t offer exchanges, so I’m returning this one and ordered another. The Amazon page says they’re in stock and I’ll receive it in 2 days. Somehow I’m doubting that.

David, I made some demos into a FELiX 2 and direct-to-computer. The Enya's Tone/Volume/UST and Mic knob settings are all at 12 o'clock. The first demo is with the reverb control knob at Full Room Reverb and the second dermo is with the reverb control knob at Full Hall Reverb. I hear little if any hiss and noise (certainly nothing more than most digital devices would impart to a signal) from the Enya preamp in my reverbs, but maybe you can?

Full Room Reverb

Full Hall Reverb

I'll try playing into my VOX AG150 next to hear what I can hear.

I definitely hear hiss in your recordings, but it’s constant, unlike what I’m experiencing. My hiss goes away a few seconds after the reverb trail is done.

If you turn off your reverb, is that hiss still there?

Try hitting the string and stopping it right away to see if you hear the hiss bloom and then go away a bit after the reverb trail is done.

David, the following is done direct-to-computer without the FELiX 2 this time. I don't hear anything that would prompt me to feel bad about the Enya preamp and its reverbs. As you know, a slight, constant background hiss is usually inherent in the usage of any effects device. I would never use the full-on settings for the reverbs as I've done in this demo. The only time I'd use Enya's onboard effects is when playing acoustically at home for fun as I've always found reverb even when generated with good-quality, rack-mounted devices just muddies up and distances the amplified guitar and vocal PA speaker tone. Have you tried your reverbs set to less strength/shorter tails in the mix to hear if there is less hiss? Give a listen to the below demo and let me know what you think: First is Full Room, then Full Hall, and then Dry.

The few times you let the reverb tail go to the end I didn’t hear the hiss. I’m assuming mine is defective. It’s pretty bad on mine. And no, none of my reverb pedals or mixer reverbs add any hiss. Totally silent, just reverb. I hope the replacement is good. If it’s not, I’ll keep it and just not use the reverb plugged in.

Or, David, just keep sending them back until you get a good one.

Second time was a charm. The replacement does not have the issue. Now to lower the saddle....

Excellent. Sounds like apart from a lack of QC these are worthy/decent guitars.

I can see how this issue would be missed by quality control.

Ok, now onto something practical. What are you doing to your X4 knobs to make the pointer visible? I don't think a sharpie would do any good. Maybe a dab of white out, but I'd have to buy some.

Any good ideas out there?
