I've heard Australia is incredible but I gotta say, our Nature shows over here have me truly terrified of your wildlife

Redwood/Brazilian Kingwood (!), or Spruce/Nicaraguan Cocobolo, or Redwood/Walnut.

I would definitely be interested... any wood combo.
Thank you!

Sign me up! I am close enough to Eric Song or sayheyjeff to make a hand delivery after my stint. As far as wood combo I wouldn’t mind hearing a guitar in the Tree although I understand why you wouldn’t want to suffer the associated devaluation on that. I surely wouldn’t mind trying the sinker Redwood Walnut combo.

The Walnut / Sinker guitar would be a great choice IMO. Thanks, Simon!

Count me in Simon. I'd love to play/hear a Redwood guitar.

Also interested. Like the idea of spruce/ macassar/fanfret. Most of us have never had the opportunity to try a fanfret, this could be a unique opportunity. Macassar is also something unique.

I’d love to be “in”. Happy to host a Milwaukee-area gathering.

If it came to the SF Bay Area with Juston, I'd be down. Sure there are others here too!

"It’s not that bad guys. Once you avoid the snakes, alligators, spiders, jellyfish, sharks, big red kangaroo, cassowaries, stingrays and politicians, it’s a very enjoyable place to be!"
If you were Stateside you would need to list the politicians first!!! Funny, cars kill more people than all the above combined. (Politicians excepted) Cheers Paul

I'm thinking I will build either a Sitka or Adirondacka top with Nicaraguan Cocobolo back|sides along with multiscale (25.0" to 25.5") and a 1 25/32" and 2.25" saddle spacing. The Redwood/Walnut guitar is incredibly fun and a sound that I personally really love but in my experience, most players really do prefer spruce/rosewood. I think for the purposes of roadtrip it is good to have a guitar with a bit more versatility/accessibility. Perhaps I will create a build thread of the guitar as well. Here's a photo of the set I'm thinking about using:
What would be helpful is for folks to email me ([email protected]) their name and shipping address - so that I can begin planning the path the roadtrip will take. It looks like some of you will just be able to hand the guitar off to the next person in line. I will use a Hoffee case but will include some packaging/shipping guidelines when the time comes to start the roadtrip. In terms of timeline, I'm going to need to fit this build into my current build schedule. Hopefully, I can get it built by the end of the year and start the roadtrip sometime in very early 2019. This should be fun !!! |
