Man you're close Ray.

It's actually a '75 Mocha Strat I picked up about 4 yrs. ago on CL for $500.

It need some work, and the old man that had it, didn't want to put any money into it.

He just needed some money to buy himself a new Tele.

It's actually my best vintage sounding Strat in the bunch.

The pickups sound amazing, the neck is right in the middle of thin and baseball bat thick, and the guitar weighs about 7 1/2 lbs.

It's pretty much the perfect Strat.

I'd have a VERY, VERY, hard time letting this one go.

Somebody would have to offer me some crazy money for it, which would have to be WAY more than its worth.

Here's some other pics of the guitar:

I really dug mine too. I didn't have much to compare it to back in those days, and the consensus opinion was that the 70's era stuff was crap, but I always loved the way it played and sounded. I had a friend after I went back to school (took a good break between high school and college) who was an LA session guy - he played my strat and loved it. He'd played a lot of them and thought that one had a really sweet sound. I sold it (and my other longtime guitar - a '68 D-28) at about the same time when I hadn't been playing for years. I saw a hardtail version of the same strat on eBay or reverb or something not long ago, but it had some issues and they wanted close to $3000 for it. I'm a hardtail guy, but I already have a Robert Cray and no way was gonna spend that kind of $$ on a good memory...

But I still get a little pang every time I see one of those. I think Mocha was pretty universally considered the ugliest color Fender ever put on a guitar, but I kinda liked it...

Yep Chickee, that'd be the way to go.

You'd save quite a bit on the MIM Deluxe.

That's one sweet guitar

There's a new(ish) Vintera 70's strat in mocha also. Seems pretty faithful to the original, except you can see through the finish to the grain. On the old ones, there was no seeing through anything - it was just a plain chocolate strat...

That's a killer looking Strat for A LOT less money than a rereal 70's original, but you're right about the see through finish.

Nothing like the real thing.

Right guys?

Wow, just amazing. This Les Paul is my favorite.
A few of you Les Pauls have what look like non-stock pickups. What are the pickup replacements?

Thanks Dru.

That's my all original '89 Gibson Heritage Cherry Sunburst LP Standard.

I picked this beauty up at a pawnshop a few years ago for $993.

They knew not what they had, but I did, and I made them an on the spot cash offer.

The only LP that has a non original humbucker is my '80 "Jimmy Wallace", which is the 1st one with the quilted top.

It has an original Tim Shaw in the neck, and an '84 Dimarzio PAF in the bridge.

I still have the bridge Tim Shaw humbucker, and I plan to eventually reinstall it.

The Amber Classic Premium Plus looks like it has replacement humbuckers, but those black exposed pickups are original to the guitar.

Thanks 3notes.

That's my '83 ES-335 Dot with stock Tim Shaw humbuckers.

It's an AMAZING sounding guitar.

It's one of the top 5 electric guitars in my collection.
