That's New Tube Day: My tremolo was getting a bit weak on one of my amps and I figured it was time. I have a buddy in the amp biz so I got him to order new tubes for all three of my amps. Took a ride over to his place and got curb side delivery.

It's a glorious day, my amps are like new. Nothing better than pre-amp tube driven bias shifting tremolo. And someday, there'll be gigs to play,..

Congrats on the new tubes!

I’ve had reverb and tremolo tubes die on me too! The good thing is you still get sound and if you have pedals for reverb and trem you can get away with it for a while. I got new tubes for my Deluxe Reverb and like you I am very happy it is whole again!

I love the reverbs I get from my HoF and tremolo from my TR2 but there’s something luscious about having the amp do them!

Enjoy your new tubes! I once re-tubed my Marshall JCM2000 TSL-100 ... 4 preamp tubes and 4 power tubes. Actually, I think it was just the power tubes. I still have the old ones.

I was just mentioning to my wife, "why do I keep these old tubes?"

I have a couple boxes full of them. It's time to clean house!

That's a rare-ish model, Richard called it the V6 MK IV, it was his 6V6 model but we switched it up to 5881s last year. I bought a spare pair of 6V6s if I want to trade them out for a more scooped sound, but it sounds so good w/ the 5881s. Probably around a 14watt amp w/ the 5881s. Around 12watts w/ 6V6s.

That's a WGS Black & Blue 15w Alnico, just wonderful. I've visited the WGS factory in Paducah. They don't list an address, Richard called and asked the plant mgr to give me a tour. They have a very cool operation going there. Excellent speakers at great prices and USA built and great folks, dedicated to building the best products.

I've got a Goodsell branded 12" ceramic WGS in my Goodsell Enhanced 5F11, the last amp model Richard introduced before he went on "hiatus". Around 10-12 watts w/ 5881s as well, a Vibrolux Style amp. Sweet sounds. Love it.

And my long time gig amp is a Goodsell Super 17 MK IV, his EL84 based amp. I've had a bunch of different speakers in it, settled on an Eminence Legend 1258 for that amp, I feel a little guilty that it's not a WGS brand, but it just works w/ the amp.

Been playing Goodsells since my first original series (three knob) Super 17 about 12 or so years ago. All three Goodsells have different sounds from one another, best amps I've played for what I want to hear.

I've heard Port City makes great sounding cabinets!

Congratulations. To me, tube amps are the sound I want so keep a box of 12ax7, 6v6, and EL34 tubes around. I have an old Ruby 12ax7 in my desk at school to show students what vacuum tubes are. When I was a kid...the TV would not be working right, call the guy, replaced a tube and TV was like new. I think now you just buy a new tv. Progress?
