Default Martin 000-16SGT 12 fret SOLD

SOLD

I have for sale one of the original early 000-16SGT guitars that was made with an ebony fingerboard and bridge, and Waverly tuners. 12 fret, slotted headstock, solid mahogany back and sides, gloss spruce top, satin back and sides. It's in vg++ condition, still has the original Waverly tuners and had a neck reset and minor fret work in June of 2018.

Scale length is 25.4", 1&3/4" nut, 2&1/4" spacing at the saddle, action is 7/64ths low E at the 12th fret with plenty of saddle to go lower. There are some light strumming marks in the finish on each side of the fretboard (pictured) and the usual small dings and handling wear for an almost 20 year old guitar, but there are no structural issues or any major repairs done (except by Martin - see below). At some point a previous owner had installed a pickup which has since been removed, so the end pin hole has already been drilled out. It needs nothing and is ready to go.

It was returned to the factory by a previous owner in 2003 for the bridge bleed problem and the fingerboard and bridge were replaced with rosewood (it appears the fingerboard was dyed darker). At that time, it was also given a new serial# plate to read: Style, serial# and "Modified" on the plate when the work was completed. That's why I describe it as a 2000/2001 model. I emailed Martin about the "modified" label - this was Martin's response:

"Hello Tom,
Thank you for contacting Martin Guitar. It appears that the MODIFIED was added when your guitar was here for repairs in 2003
“Bleeding bridge and fingerboard. Replace bridge & fgbd. with Rosewood. Have new serial# plate to read: Style, serial# "Modified" printed on plate.”
Best Regards,
Harry

Note: This guitar is also listed on the UMGF. The case problem listed in the UMGF F/S ad is no longer an issue - I've purchased a correct new Martin C330 black case from Sweetwater which the guitar will ship with. The case is new but was a store demo so it might have a couple scuff marks and light handling marks on it. The tuner issue also mentioned and shown in the UMGF listing has been corrected as well - picture included here.

Final Price: SOLD shipped anywhere in the 48 states. I don't do Paypal as a seller and would prefer a Post Office money order or a personal check. If you have any questions, or would like additional pictures, please let me know. My email is: blackieseacliff at aol dot com (no spaces) or PM me thru the forum.

Not interested in any trades. (Anyone know why the pictures are sideways?)

Thanks for looking.
Tom

I find that when pictures show up sideways, I have to Download them back to my computer, flip them and then upload the adjusted image back to the AGF post. Good luck with your sale...

Thanks RP, I tried that when I first posted it and it didn't work but, since I can't think of anything else, I'll try it again.

I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm always sure to remove the existing pictures from the post before uploading the downloaded/flipped pictures...

Someone should grab this!

No neck reset problems or risks,
plus aged, plus 12-fretter sweet-spot,
plus price in the hundreds net of shipping.
I have to stop before I have a GAS attack while my
wife is looking over my shoulder with a raised
eyebrow (her not my shoulder).

I had one of these years ago and it was a very comfortable guitar to play.

I've had these in rosewood and hog. Never seen a bad one. Martin got it right with these.
