Default OM18 E v OM35 E

i am in the look out for a new OM model and in the UK there are are a couple of places selling the Om18 E for £1999 and the OM 35 E for £2199

both have the baggs anthem system

i have played a couple of Om 18 models and i love the size and sound - just wondering what i would gain if getting the OM 35 e model

specs seem identical apart from the obvious 35 trim compared to the 18 trim etc

Om35 has thinner 1/4" braces, so, on average, it will probably be skewed more towards the bass compared to an 18.

I agree, and I suspect that the OM-18E will have greater overall clarity, as well.

Still, that’s pure speculation on my part because I haven’t sat down and played examples of each side by side. So take that with a grain of salt.

Hope this helps.

Doesn't the 18 have mahogany b/s, and the 35 rosewood? Seems to me they'd have pretty different sounds...or am I mistaken?

You are correct. I have an OM-35 and I just really love that guitar. I have played a bunch of 000-18's but not the OM-18 so I can't offer a comparison between those two guitars. My 35 definitely has more bass than the 000-18 however.

The OM-35 is a very versatile guitar. Under heaving strumming it surprises me with it's power but when I play it easy, or fingerpicked, it's responsive and sounds beautiful. It's a very versatile guitar that I feel comfortable with in most any situation. Also, I've always been a sucker for a well done three piece back and bound fretboard.
