Default NGD - 50s Stella with some ???s

Hi All
I cannot be trusted to step foot in a guitar store. So, this eve went into Guitars 48 in downtown Ventura, CA. Walked out with this vintage Stella Harmony. It cost me $200 and he threw in a set of strings and gave me a few slides at a great discount.

It's in great shape with high action which is great for slide. I'm just wondering how to date it. he said it was 50s. The # inside says: 423 (1?) Then H3286
I looked online but couldn't find anything clear.

It's this ridiculous puke green color with fake painted wood grain and painted fingerboard inlays. So, kitchy and cheap but it's got this bluesy, cool ladder brace vibe that's pretty cool.

Who can tell me about it and maybe date it for me???

This is my first attempt at adding photos: hopefully it works:

My first guitar (c.1970) was a Stella just like the one you have, except mine was a sunburst. As I recall (I was about 6), my folks initially leased the guitar from the store where my lessons were, and eventually applied the rental fees toward an outright purchase. Whether it was brand new or used when I started on it, I have no idea.

I do not know of any way to pinpoint the exact year on Harmony-made instruments like your Stella. I think it's fair to say those were in production during the '50s and '60s.

The tiger-striped blonde finish is not often seen, so that's pretty neat.

Looks like yours.

The date might be pinned down if you find when they introduced the steel reinforced neck and the star on the headstock. The star disappeared from what I can remember and the truss rod only came in on later years. Check with a mirror on the underside of the top also.

Apparently Steve at Vintage Parlor Guitars may be able to help

If not, you could try the Michael Messer Forum.
