Been playing guitar for years but just picked up the ukulele this past Spring. I may think about a pickup when I get better. I do appreciate the tip!

Will you be putting a pickup in this uke?

If so, I suggest the K&K Aloha Twin. I've been gig'ing with an ukulele for about 13 years now and started before Fishman developed the first UST for an ukulele, it was their matrix infinity. I've used UST pickups every since then (including the LR Baggs Five.0) but just recently switched one uke to the Aloha Twin SBT's and now I'm thinking about switching all my ukes to this pickup. The balance and natural tone of this pickup is just so nice, not to mention a great signal for a passive pickup.

Just some suggestions. Great uke and hope it brings you great joy for years to come!

Thanks Berf! Last year this time I was in the same boat ... knew nothing about them. Easy to learn and a lot of fun. I'd recommend giving it a try if you are curious.

Yeah, IM(humble)O, the sound of my ukes have never been better - both plugged/unplugged - once I removed the UST and actually had a bone-wood contact of the saddle-bridge. The Aloha Twin (or any comparable SBT pickup) would reflect this in the sound, whereas a UST wouldn't.

I guess my advice is more focused away from a UST (e.g. Fishman Matrix Infinity, MiSi, etc.) and towards an SBT like the Aloha Twin.

Cheers and enjoy!

Wonderful build thread and a truly joyful conclusion with the sound clips. Such a beautiful little instrument... makes me think about picking up the uke for myself. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jeff and Jon. Now that I have heard it the anticipation level has risen to new heights. Not going to be able to sleep this weekend so may as well do a X-Files marathon!

Amazing sound for just being strung up! Congrats--that is really a beauty. Good luck with that sleep thing...it's highly over-rated anyways!

Thanks Nemoman. Always been curious about that handle of yours. Do you captain a submarine ... or wish you were a clownfish? Just kidding around really but I have been curious.

Yeah, I have a feeling this uke is going to age really well. It's an awesome wood combo on a guitar. Looking forward to hearing it mature.

Nothing too mysterious to my handle. Back in early 2011, I acquired a beautiful custom Taylor GS with a sinker redwood top. Naturally the sinker top got my imagination going nautical, and I christened that guitar "Nemo". And the rest is history.....thanks for the curiousity. How's it going with that awesome uke?!
