Default question:

Just a question I've wanted to ask for years....when you order a Custom Martin...do you get the 35% discount that pretty much all Martins come with? I see people waiting on "new" Martins and I've always wondered that. thanks in advance!!

You get the 40% off if you go through the dealers who do that sort of disount. Those of us who know get the discount. I see people on Facebook everyday paying at or near MAP for their new Martins. So it's not quite as widespread as one would think.

Why not talk to one of the Forum Sponsors - Maury would be a good start, but there are other dealers who offer deep discounts and are sponsors here. Then you’ll know for sure.

The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

If Jon (MFG) wasn't retired/retiring I'd say call him. But as JayBee said...call Maury. I'm sure he can help you...best of luck! And as Kori says below...Mark at Reno's Music (guitarhotline.com) is very helpful.

In addition to Maury's, two others to consider: Reno's Music, and Tobias Music. All of these folks are excellent!

Seconding the recommendation for Reno's. Mark is a super nice guy and till now the only person I've ever bought a new guitar from.

I’ve ordered and received both a custom Collings mandolin and a Martin Custom Shop 00-21 through Terry Straker at The Guitar Works in Evanston, Illinois. Terry priced both at very competitive prices and was wonderfully easy and informative to work with.

The folks at Tobias Music are super nice. The store used to be tiny, but has now expanded. I have purchased two new guitars from them (Taylors), and I got a good price on both.
