Default Nickel bronze goodness

In an ongoing adventure testing out different strings on my J-45 I recently put some D’Addario nickel bronze lights. And while I will in no way try to argue that they give you that quintessential J-45 tone, they sound absolutely fantastic to my ear. What you lose in low end thump and growl (it isn’t totally gone) you more than make up for in sensational GBE clarity and tone with a bit of sparkle.

Also these are my new favorites for feel, playability and pick noise.

I love JP PBs and what they give you as a whole but these may stay in the rotation also. I’m guessing they’d be great plugged in where you could shape your low end with the EQ.

Definitely worth a try in my opinion.

I use both (Pure Nickel for the John Pearse set), especially the NBs, although I did a makeover and took them off, just for a change, not for anything else. NBs, for me, have to be the most versatile of all acoustic strings. Now I'm keeping an eye on the Pure Nickels.

Like you I've been a JP-PB fan for years, but last year I also "discovered" D'Addario NB's; and they're definitely now a regular part of my rotation.

On the advice of the guy at our local shop, I tried these and I am a convert. Tried as set of PB's just to see if I was right to change (after several sets of nickel) and I will go back to the nickel and stay!
