Default Stephen Kinnaird Italian/Celebes Ebony P1

Hey everyone. We thought we'd show you a new instrument that's just leaving our shop. It's the smallest guitar that we've built yet - a P1 model (based on a Martin 1) with a Manzer wedge and an arm bevel. It's on its way to a customer that was inspired by Christie Cook's lightweight 00. Only this one is a little smaller but not quite as light.

The guitar has an Italian Spruce top with Celebes Ebony back and sides, peghead, fretboard, and bridge. The wedge, bevel, and sound ports as well as the slothead were all picked by the customer. We hope you like it. Small guitars sure are fun.

Thanks for looking!

This is really SWEET! Talk about easy on the eyes and the ears, too...

Another beautiful SK! The new owner must be thrilled.

Carry on gentlemen!

Thanks Paul and Tim! It’s 24.9” scale length. We had thought about going even shorter on it, but the customer’s husband actually has a matching Ebony parlor from us already. As she enjoys playing that one, all we did is change the nut width down to 1 11/16” and kept the same scale.

Sounds and looks great fellas. How does this one differ from Grandpa's wooing parlor size?

Yes, like Ryan said, thanks fellas!
Tom, this is really close to Grandad's little courting guitar.
His was not a Martin, but probably a Stahl or Maurer copy sold through department stores. (My guess.) It was from the 1800's, when all things were smaller. Also, scale length on this P-1 is a bit longer.
Thanks for the interest!

Steve

Lovely guitar brother. That ebony really looks good with the burst.

Is that cocobolo on the bevel?

Thanks bro! No, that bevel cap is more Celebes Ebony. Off cuts from the back, if memory serves.
