Can't post pics from my PC, that is the one thing that lets this forum down, badly.
It is so easy to post on other forums.

Hi Roy... that's correct. As the opening post says, the privilege of posting directly from your computer is reserved for our charter members. As a registered user, there are still two other methods available to you. You may use a third-party host, such as Imgur. Or you may use the Tapatalk app. Both work well. Feel free to PM me if you're having trouble.

Is there a way to post a picture within the signature or is it a link only kind of thing? Can i actually a pic in the signature itself?

Hi. Unfortunately, it is not possible to post an image within one’s signature, so it is limited to a link.

Default Posting images should be simple

With many web services (e.g. gmail) , I can simply drag and drop an image to attache it to an email or to upload to a cloud drive. When will that capability be available on AGF?

Hi smic,

As a registered user, you have two methods available to you. You can pull the pictures from a mobile device through the Tapatalk app or you may use a third-party host. Only charter members may pull pictures off their computer. The moderators have no idea when future features will be available.

Thanks, Kerbie. I think it could be a win-win situation if image postings were a trivial exercise for all members.

Yes, but when attaching a pic in gmail, for instance, it's stored to Google's server. If everyone were allowed to upload a pic from their computer, it would take up a lot of space on the AGF server. That's why they need to be linked from other sites and not uploaded.

It actually is a pretty trivial exercise

Open Imgur from your bookmarks, select photo , click , select BBCode, hit copy, go to AGF reply box , hit paste. Voilà.

Photo opens in reply

OTOH ,,, AGF having a data center like Google's in The Dalles Oregon at a cost 1.8 billion is not as "trivial" Me thinks,

Agreed. I am on several other forums and none have such a limitation or storage space limitation. If space is an issue, the owner/moderator should easily be able to delete all very old posts before [date] or posts with fewer than [X] replies.

"Easily' maybe, maybe not ? But not only is comparing to other forums pointless because every forum is different , but it would no doubt take significant amounts of "unnecessary time" for the owner/mods (who have their hands full just moderating on their donated personal time) to delete old posts, considering how easy and quick it actually is for members to use a 3rd hosting sight to post pictures.
