Default NGD - Acoustic guy finally goes electric

Been purely an acoustic player...until now. Recently welcomed the first electric to my tiny herd. Pulled the trigger on this American Professional Stratocaster- Sienna Sunburst. At 68 I may have set a record for the oldest guy to buy his first electric.

Looking forward to exploring the broad tonal pallet electrics offer. Bought a beginner amp with plenty of modeling effects - Fender Champion 50XL. So far I’m loving it...though I suspect a tube amp is not far in my future.

Beautiful guitar. (Looks even better next to that Martin of yours).

I think everyone should own a Stratocaster at least once in their lifetime.

Rev - what a beautiful Strat! Welcome to the Electric side. Congrats!

I just checked Guinness ... No one who has played acoustic guitar for over 40 years has ever bought their first electric at 68 . The question is, have you been playing 40 years?

Actually I’ve only been playing for about five years. Started when my lovely wife bought me a D-28 as my retirement gift. I still suck on acoustic so I figured I might as well be incompetent on electric as well.

Rev,
That’s a beautiful Strat! I bought my first electric (Fender Strat Pro), at age 70. Then quickly followed that up with a Fender Tele Pro and an Ibanez AM93. My skills are limited at best, but, I enjoy the the time spent hacking away! Enjoy your guitar and don’t be surprised if there might be a Tele in your future!

Rev,

Very cool strat and congrats on adding another guitar to the collection ! Retirement is about doing what brings you joy and your guitar adventures apparently are doing just that! Life is good -- with a new guitar in your hand! Enjoy!!

Ha. That’s how I feel. And you’ve been playing longer than I have.

Congrats
