I only have two archtops, a Gibson ES-140 and a Benedetto Andy (the carved version, the only one available now). I’m an old cornet player who is still in the transition mode (of learning the guitar). I grew up listening to and playing the old standards and jazz, and find the sound of archtops to be captivatingly beautiful. I love looking at the photos you guys post here too!

Wow. Some beautiful stuff here. Too bad archtops don't really fit my profile tonewise.

My first archtop own/build. Bennedetto style "pallet" challenge circa 2005 built from salvage white pine and cherry from an unsplittable chunk of firewood. Despite the obvious defects this guitar sounded great, very strong midrange and held up at bluegrass jams. It always got alot of attention. Unfortunately lost in a fire in 2009 and not yet replaced. The irony of it all...

While mine does not compare to many that have been depicted here, I have a 2010 Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin II:
I can't post a pic of mine - but, this should be the one from Godin's website... http://www.godinguitars.com/godin5th...kingpincwp.htm |

Hi all....thanks for posting nice photos of some beautiful instruments.
Its going to be "snowed in" day here in CT, USA, so thought I'd slip a photo in just to pass the time. I posted this to the jazz and Guild guitar forums some time ago, for those that feel a "Deja Vu" sensation. Left to Right: 1949 Gibson L-7c, 1950 Epiphone Triumph Regent, 1956 Guild X-175 Manhattan. Hope you like......I enjoy seeing three different takes on the 17" cutaway design from that era. ziz Last edited by zizala; 02-13-2014 at 07:52 AM. |

Beautiful guitars guys! I'll add some pics when I get the chance. That Benedetto Andy has some of the best looking f holes I've ever seen. Awesome stuff, there's one on ebay right now for about 10k, no way i could ever afford that lol
