Thank you guys, your kind words are much appreciated.
It gave me pause to rout away some perfectly good Tree, but it got replaced by some perfectly good Brazilian rosewood. I know it will work as a port, but perhaps this also will bring a smile to Russell’s face when it faces him.

Steve

Default Stephen Kinnaird SJ Port Orford Cedar/'Tree" Mahogany

New pics of Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay and Tree back of guitar. Still a couple more nice features to come. I’m pretty excited!
The same BRW is used in the bridge, fretboard, and rosette. It’s colorful and has lots of character! Mahalo Steve!

A few more pics: the headstock and fretboard, bevel, and end wedge. All still in process!
The fretboard, headstock, end wedge, rosette, and bevel are from the same piece of colorful BRW.

Lookin great. What a beautiful match of grain from the end of the fret board up in to the headstock overlay. I am sure that was not accidental!

It’s almost a guitar! I couldn’t wait to share these pics. It’s not finished and also it’s not ‘finished!’
I’m very excited about it. Steve has been wonderful to work with and has accommodated many of my quirky requests!

Looking fantastic for a not finished nor finished guitar. I still love the soundport and with finish it will come alive.

This is really going to be a head turner--simply a beautiful composition of woods and decorative elements.

I was fortunate to see your "Tree" set at the Kinnaird shop prior to the beginning of this build--it's certainly come a long way since then.

Congrats on your build, Russell--can't wait to see it with finish!

I’m remiss in my thanks, so let me rectify—thank you gents for your kindness and generosity. Thanks for following along!
