Default Martin grand performance options

I’ve been looking for a grand performance/auditorium electro acoustic guitar with a cutaway, I don’t think a Taylor is right for me so I’ve been looking towards a few Martin options.

Any thoughts on the the GPC-13E? Would this be preferable to the GPC-16E as I've found alot of the complaints are the smaller depth.

The GPC-13E comes in Ziricote or Mutenye whatever that means, not the Rosewood / Mahogany I am used to seeing.

Also found a GPC11E with Sapale. All these are Sikta spruce.

I also found a used GPCPA1 but this is the most expensive of them all, for a 10+ year old guitar. Any thoughts welcome.

Zircote is a veneer.

Get the -16e at least.

This looks nice…

You should also look at the Martin 16 Style Rosewood from GC and MF. It's full depth, real rosewood, and a very nice guitar.

I really like the Martin GP's and GPC's. I have a GPCRSG, same as the GPC-13 Mutenye, and a GP-28e. They're both really nice guitars;

I’d read that the lack of depth in the -16e didn’t help with the overall sound. Any thoughts on that?

I agree about the Gpc special but impossible to get in the UK

Apparently they will ship to uk but I imagine it will cost a lot in shipping and taxes on top of the price already, I do like the look of that one though

I've played the GPC-16 and the D-16 with the 000 depth. I wanted to like them but they just didn't have the ''oomph''.

I like my mutenye GPC. It's more like rosewood than anything else. I also wouldn't overlook the ziricote veneer guitar. That one and the veneer dread get a lot of good reviews from owners. I like Martin's GP's and GPC's. They give you the comfort of a 000 but they also have to tone a dread. You just give up some volume to a dread.

I asked them on live chat but Guitar Center don't ship to the UK so won't be getting the Special GPC

What would the Ziricote compare to? I assumed that one would be more like rosewood due to the colour and not the Mutenye

I have the GPC11E. I love the playability and comfort. Has the Martin tone but does lack volume. 80/20s seem to give it a little more pep.

Yeah the bit of extra depth could help.

If Taylor isn't your bag and you are not able to find the Martin you are looking for, maybe consider Furch. They make some really nice GC's.

The last guitar that I purchased is a Martin GPC-16 Special Rosewood.
It is my gigging guitar.

I looked at a lot of guitars and this one filled all my needs the best.
I wanted to stat with an all solid wood guitar that has Ebony fretboard and bridge. It had to be Rosewood over Spruce.

This guitar had been all that I wanted or expected it to be.
Highly recommend it to others.

Seems my only options are the GPC11E and GPC13E in Martins, and neither are filling me with much confidence its the right choice, shame they're are no higher end guitars available
