Default Singing in the rain - gigging in a downpour, the CF rules

We were hired for an outdoor farmers market back in the spring and as luck would have it the weather turned foul all day with the worst of it coming through right about gig time. There were even hail and tornado warnings. Not a lot of farmers showed up but the heartiest of the bunch were there. We arrived and they had taken down the tent they provide for music as they just assumed we wouldn't come. They were also worried about the tent in the wind and running electric power for us in the heavy rain.

We laughed and said as long as there's not thunder and lightning or horizontal rain we were game! We run on battery power!! They even offered to pay us without playing but we set up under their front door overhang and played for our full 1.5 hour time. We had to move once when the skies opened up and rain was splashing in on us but overall it was fine. We went with our extremely small setup of just one Bose S1 on the ground tilted back, Emerald X10 straight into channel two and mic straight into channel one. Sounded good. Not as great as when we run through the StompMix X6 but certainly good enough considering the conditions.

I would have not been too happy to have a high-end wood guitar out in those conditions! Long live carbon fiber and battery power!

Methos;

I'm with you on both CF and battery powered amps. There's a bunch of them out there and many of them are dynamite. The S1 is my favorite. So far.

I heard: When the rain comes, they run and hide their heads...

No confirmation on that at this time.

I wonder, still I wonder if that's true.
