Default Went kayaking, heard two acts!

My wife and I went paddling on a smallish lake, about twenty minutes away, around 5:30 p.m.

There was a singer song writer type guy playing for about thirty people on one end of the lake. You could hear him nicely out over the water. I thought he was pretty decent. Then, when we got back, there was a band playing for the local cottage owners right across (like, 30 feet) from the boat launch.

I thought they were pretty good. Guy on electric, guy on acoustic with a harp in the rack, drummer. Hank Williams, Bob Dylan, blues, eclectic choices but basically a rootsy band.

Seems like there is music everywhere sometimes. I was walking the dog the other night, a house around the corner had a big fire pit going, about twenty people sitting around it, couple guys playing, people singing along.

Music everywhere!

If you start hearing banjos, it's all over...

That's nice if you like the music being played.
But what if it's music you strongly dislike?

This. Bruce usually provides me with at least a chortle, if not a hearty guffaw every couple of days.

I grew up on a lake. I used to love sitting by the water and playing under the stars and being accompanied by crickets, peeping frogs and the deep croak of a bullfrog. It's amazing how sound can carry over water.

Good on you that there was actual live music being playing and it wasn't the sound of somebody's radio playing trash or someone's hound braying mindlessly in the middle of the night. I guess that's more a sign of it being summer.

I meet my brothers this past weekend for a paddling outing. There are two adjacent riverside campgrounds at the bottom of the Nolichucky gorge. One was having a wedding and was completely rented out for Saturday, but we were able to secure a site for Friday night.

We set up camp, strung our hammocks overlooking the river, and proceeded to enjoy each other's company while eating and drinking.

The other campground was hosting a VW campers weekend. We were told they would be having live music both nights. Cool, we thought.

The thumping discordancy at a volume of 11 started at 8 and continued until midnight. Apparently it was a "rave".

No matter how I tried, I couldn't find the rhythm line (not that you could hear my guitar anyway).

We found a primitive site in the National Forest for Saturday night.

If you can't escape it, learn to like it or be miserable. Your choice, your misery or joy!
