IMO this is simply a cliche music video of a cliche song (not terrible, but a dime a dozen) by a famous actor. Nothing more, nothing less.

Please understand that the reason I created this thread was not to promote Mr Sutherland but to draw attention to the British made guitar he is playing.

It's interesting that some were drawn to the notion that an actor was "pretending" to busk as opposed to the fact that the guitar Keifer is playing is a remake of Buddy's original Gibson. Here's a shot of older brother Larry playing the real deal....

I think he's the British version of the "pre war guitars" company in the US. |

His band comes to town about once a year. Wife requires that we attend. I'd call it more country than rock. It was a regular J-45 on stage.
I will say that Kevin Bacon (Bacon Brothers Band), which I was also required to attend, also comes to town often. They have a much more polished and professional stage presence and some decent original material as well. Neither of these are the best at what they do, but I appreciate they take the music seriously. |

I like Kiefer's acting. I'm pretty sure he quit acting for awhile to pursue roping in the rodeo circuit and won some titles. Life is short, have a little fun.

And they employ a lot of deserving people in the process. Which would include everyone on both sides of the camera in that video. Even though -- yes, it must be acknowledged -- he's not really busking. If he had been, it would've been the three of them plus someone with a phone. And there would have been only one shaky camera angle. And, including the walking, it would've taken ten minutes. Not the five hours it probably really took.

GEEE-WHIZ...you guys are so critical! LOL.
Personally I liked the video. Thought it was great to see him in other venues besides acting. Always like it when people reach out. I have been working super hard on my music, and Someday soon I hope to make a music video...But no way will I show it on the forum, could not take all those hard line criticisms! Ha ha...I can barely take it when you guys come down on me for my Guitar experimentation theories! LOL |

Way better than I thought it would be. Ugliest guitar I've ever seen though
I'd like to have the eq tool that can get rid of a city bus 10 feet away driving by... Yes, its a promotional video, I know. Good tune, regardless.

He's pretty good, but he's no Kevin Costner, and no one rocks harder than Kevin Costner...except maybe Robert Downey Jr and Johnny Depp. Thank goodness there aren't too many Johnny Depps walking around!

Fun video, thanks. Love the ending closeup of the note in the guitar case.
Note that the title of the thread is Kiefer Sutherland "busking" - with a ??? not Kiefer Sutherland busking - with a ??? ……….. For Sutherland fans, may I recommend Forsaken (2016), with KS as a retired (he hopes) gunfighter, DS as his estranged preacher father, and Michael Wincott as the bad guy's hired gun with a conscience.

I imagine that Guild probably won't go after him for using their slogan, but the English language is quite rich. It seems like they could come up with a phrase of their own.
I suppose that Delta airlines could start saying, "Fly the friendly skies", or Popeye's Chicken could start claiming that their product is "finger lickin' good!", but it seems to me it would be preferable for a company to come up with slogans of their own. Of course, any minute now, someone will weigh in with proof that "Made to be played" was in fact first used by Giardini & Sons Lute Mfg., or Aesop's Lute Co., Inc.]
